About Swanilda

My legal name is Sheri, but online I go by the name Swanilda. In case you are wondering, Swanilda is a central character in the ballet Coppelia. She is someone who is described as dancing for inner fulfillment and is my alter ego. By the way, when I am not Sheri aka Swanilda choreographing something on my computer, I am probably dancing over at The Ballet Academy.

My formal education includes an undergraduate degree in Literature and a Master's in Music. I also have a Desktop Publishing Certificate from George Washington University. I update my education by taking courses such as XML, Writing for the Web, and Acrobat.

In August 2002 I got my Macromedia Dreamweaver Developer Certification.

For many years I taught piano and also worked as backstage manager at the Concert Hall of the Kennedy Center.

Now, in addition to creating Web sites, I head on over to Trinity College in DC, where I teach such courses as Photoshop, Teacher Technology, and Web Design.

I also train government employees in all things web for the Government Printing Office's Federal Institute for Printing and Electronic Publishing. Sometimes I travel to such exotic locales as Vegas, Cheyenne, or San Diego to teach government employees who live outside the Capitol Beltway.

In conjunction with my training activities, I write many tutorials and articles for the Washington Apple Pi Journal. You can find some of these at the companion Electric Pi, the online version of the Journal. (I am also in the process of helping the Pi Web master redesign the Electric Pi. Check back periodically to see how we did.)
