Swanilda aka Sheri

The hour glass says: Saturday, 20-Mar-2010 11:20:06 EDT

  Which Witch?

Hint: It's not the Wicked Witch of the West...nor the Good Witch of the North. Every year, during the month of October, Elvira Wannabee emerges to harrass the Mac Salon. This is an on-line group to which I have belonged for about eight years. At this point, the members merely sigh and roll their eyes on Oct. 1.

My legal name is Sheri, but online I go by the nameSwanilda, Wizard of OS Swanilda. In case you are wondering,Swanilda is a central character in the ballet “Coppelia.” She is someone who is described as dancing for inner fulfillment and is my alter ego. By the way, when I am not choreographing something on my computer, I am probably dancing over at The Ballet Academy.

My formal education includes an undergraduate degree in Literature and a Master's in Music. I also have a Desktop Publishing Certificate from George Washington University. I update my education by taking courses such as XML, Writing for the Web, and Acrobat.

In August 2002 I got my Macromedia Dreamweaver Developer Certification.

For many years I taught piano and also worked as backstage manager at the Concert Hall of the Kennedy Center.

Now, in addition to concocting Web sites with my magic OS machine, I hop on my broom and head on over to Trinity College in DC, where I teach such courses as PhotoShop, Intro to Media Technology Studies, and Web Design.

I also train government employees in all things web for the Government Printing Office's Federal Institute for Printing and Electronic Publishing. Sometimes I even hop on a very, very big broom and travel to such exotic locales as Vegas, Cheyenne, or San Diego to teach the poor unfortunate government employees who live outside the Capitol Beltway. <cackle>

You can read some of the articles I have written for the Washington Apple Pi Journal at Electronic Pi online. (Look under PHP/MySQL)

Next stop, pictures of the witch's cats.
