MTS 102: The Digital World
Class 1
In class we learned how to make selections in Photoshop.
Homework: Read chapters 1–3 in The NonDesigners'
Design Book.
Class 2
In class we continued learning different ways to make selections such
as with the Extract command, Quick Mask mode, and the Magic Eraser tool.
Homework: Read chapters 5–7 in the NDD book.
Class 3
We scanned images, and worked on our first project. We selected a
foreground object out of an image. In a new document, we created a background
with the gradient tool, the night sky, or the water background as demonstrated
in class. We then moved our selected object onto this new background.
After flattening the layers, we then created an interesting edge on that
background. Finally, we saved the image in two formats. We saved a TIFF
for print, and a JPG for the monitor or the Web.
Homework: Finish the book, and read the handouts from
class.
