Teacher Technology
Welcome to this exciting class for education majors. Won't it be nice to walk into a class and not have the kids know more about the computers than you do?
Keep up to date on your class assignments here. You will be able to download class handouts, find out the homework assignments, ask questions, and get reminders about quizzes, tests, and project dates.
Week One
Class One: May 30, 2006
- Go over syllabus and expectations
- Learn a few basics of HTML
- Learn about WebQuests
- View an example WebQuest
- Copyrights and online content
Homework
- Plan your WebQuest topic
- Choose a color scheme for your template
- Buy a couple of blank CDs and a folder to store your handouts
- Buy a Flash (or Jump) drive
Download the class files. This includes the WebQuest PowerPoint presentation, the example music WebQuest, your class syllabus, the class one summary, and the template you will use for your own WebQuests.
For those of you who would like to use your personal laptop computer for class projects, you can download a free 30 day trial version of Dreamweaver.
Important Note: Your consistent attendance is extremely important. This is a hands-on class where you will be working on the projects that form the basis for most of your grade. If you are not in class, you can't work on the projects. Most of you have already indictated to me that there is no time to work on projects outside class. That means you must do them in class. If you're not there, you're going to fall further and further behind. Because the number of students in the class is extremely large for a hands-on class, there is a limit to how much individual help I can give any one person during class. So I repeat: your consistent attendance is extremely important.
